Default How is the PvE content long term going to be?

I played the beta this weekend I believe in just in the questing area. LOVED IT. But is this game going to be balanced between PvE and PvP? Over on WoW you choose a server to either participate in PvP and ganking or go with a different server. Sounds like this going to all together but have separate quest zones to avoid ganking. But how about game content? Will both be equally as deep with content or be devoted to just one style of gameplay?

The PvE is emence, you will have a hard time if your going to try and do all the quests and missions. PvP is great as well, there is never an exact same GvG match.

So yea your gonna have a lot on your plate.

i am PVE and think of the game as a PVE wonder with a small area penned off for the pvp players

i do not begrudge them the space

i think we will have a very good pve time

Um.. whats ganking.
Lets just say, Im interesed in the PVE enough for me to be interested in it for um a Years worth of betas? Ive only dabbled in PVP for a little while, Ive been consitantly studying all the builds and how to beat/play them. Once the game gets released then i will play PVP. But for me, PVE will definately be the best. Its quite fun playing with real people and its quite intense but with a friendlier antmosphere. When you hear someone shoting "OWWNNEEDDD" in PVE its usually someone who just killed a boss or something

THe best thing is there still is tons of PVE that hasn't been released to us yet, Ive also played the same missions over and over and its still quite fun because its a different experience each time you go out with a group. And im still finding tons of content that ive never seen everwhere i look in GW and ive been playing for a year!

Theres always been a balance between PVP and PVE. PVE is supposed to set up the PVP and PVP is really an endgame.

I've been in the alpha for 6 months, and still enjoy the PvE side of the game- I have played through it all, but the high-level areas are still great(think Underworld/Fissure of Woe) for the challenge, and it's enjoyable trying to make it through with different types of characters. Considering they're estimating an expansion every 6 months or so, I don't think that PvE players will get too bored with the content in the game before the next expansion comes out.

I believe ganking is where you get teamed up on by multiple opponents, especially when you just went through a portal(A portal would be considered zoning in GW) But, Since you have your own copy of the map, this is practically impossible in GW.

This all sounds really good.
Ganked in World of Warcraft is when your doing a quest or hunting animals or gathering trade goods off the land on your own and out of nowhere you are attacked and killed. Pretty irritating

Well it is looking more and more like I will be coming on board. WoW just came out with the asinine patch release called the honor system. You get honor rewards for killing in PvP. The original manual stated this would eventually be made active but you would get dishonor for engaging in PvP with players too many levels below you. However, they decided to do away with dishonor so it has become one big high level killing lowbies zone. There is a huge uproar over at Blizzard about this patch. At level 20 out of 60, I can???t quest now without being killed constantly. Guild Wars could not have picked a better time to be released. I have a feeling there will be a lot more people playing this game then originally anticipated.

it is no fun having someont treat you as a moving piggy bank to break

Yeah, there's no ganking in Guild Wars. Even in PvP areas, you aren't attacked out of no where. Equal sized teams of eight start on opposite ends of the map and engage in (hopefully) organized battle. It's a lot of fun, unlike getting ganked...

There is no penalty for being killed in WoW. It's just a hassle if your running solo and they camp at your corpse waiting for you to ressurect. You used to be able to call in friends but now, they are off somewhere else being farmed by level 60's so it's prettty hard to calling in the calvary.

yeah, i've heard much complaining about that patch. one friend of mine spent 5 hours trying to get the patch. he had to reinstall the entire game because it got corrupted because of it, which of course meant his patch ended up being 128mb. there was much cussing, and i've been basically dressed in red with a pitchfork, sitting on his shoulder, to get him to try GW. i think WoW just made us another convert.

Being the killer..not the killee.
No seriously, your question is what is being hotly debated over on the WoW forums. There is supposed to be a seperate area called Battlegrounds devoted to this type of play, but Blizzard blew it and released the kill for rewards points before Battlegrounds. So now it's battlegrounds everywhere + no dishonor for killing lowbies. I think it was rushed out to complete with this game.

If you log off you, come back where you were before, dead or alive. So you either wait it out in game for them to leave then ressurect, or just log off and not play for a while. A lot of players maxed out there characters months ago and have done the high level instances. They have been bored waiting for this kill for rewards system. I play on an elite server (Illidan) and its pretty chaotic right now.

accept that the pve world is still using a system balanced towards pvp play, and you can still have loads of fun. The game, first and foremost, is beautiful. beautiful beautiful beautiful. lots of content, all hack 'n slash, because its mostly pvp game of course... you won't find a real RPG here, it's a watered down Diablo clone. But so beautiful. The RPG stuff, you'll have to make yourself, depending on the people you hang with.
